Where is the wind power energy sector growing?

The smaller sister to solar power is growing in scope in many different nations.

With the global wind power capacity increasing by 17.1% in 2015 to 63 megawatts, there has been a substantial rise in the number of wind turbine installations. The world leader remains China, which is growing its wind energy sector at a similar rate to its solar energy installations.

China is expected to reach a capacity of 168, 890 megawatts this year, a substantive rise on the 145,104 megawatts capacity of 2015.

The United States by comparison has a modest wind power sector, with a total capacity of 82,813 megawatts set to be installed this year.

Germany is the European powerhouse of the wind industry. With the third largest installed wind power capacity of 44947 megawatts it is set to reach 50019 megawatts this year. India, despite its vast population has a relatively modest wind power sector by comparison.  Set to reach 28655 installed megawatts this year India is well behind China considering the similarity in their population sizes.
